The Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to combat terrorism and safeguard the security of its citizens at all costs.

In a press briefing in Rawalpindi on Friday, he emphasized that the fight against terrorism, specifically targeting the Kharijite groups (extremist factions), and their facilitators, would persist until the last of these threats were eliminated.

Lieutenant General Chaudhry acknowledged the unmatched sacrifices made by Pakistan’s armed forces in the ongoing war against terrorism, underscoring the nation’s deep respect and gratitude for the martyrs of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies.

Highlighting the previous year’s counter-terrorism efforts, the ISPR Chief mentioned that a total of 59,775 Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) were conducted, targeting terrorists and their collaborators. These operations led to the neutralization of 925 terrorists, including members of the Kharijite groups. Additionally, 73 high-value targets were eliminated, and 27 Afghan militants were killed. Notably, 14 wanted terrorists voluntarily surrendered to the authorities, while 383 officers and soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice during these operations.

Addressing Pakistan’s role in Afghanistan, Lieutenant General Chaudhry pointed out that Pakistan had consistently worked towards promoting peace and stability in its neighboring country. However, he expressed disappointment that Afghan soil continues to be exploited by terrorists who carry out attacks on Pakistani soil. The ISPR Chief reiterated Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir’s concerns about the sanctuaries for banned organizations within Afghanistan, stressing that these groups continue to facilitate terrorism against Pakistan.

Regarding the Western Border Management Regime, he confirmed that the majority of the projects under this initiative are nearing completion. He stated that 72% of landmines and unexploded ordnance in tribal districts had been cleared. In addition, the ongoing crackdown against smuggling, power theft, narcotics, and hoarding, directed by the government, has significantly reduced illegal activities.

The enforcement of a one-document regime has also played a pivotal role in curbing illegal border crossings. As a result, 815,000 illegal Afghan nationals have been repatriated to Afghanistan since September of the previous year.

On the situation along the Line of Control (LoC), Lieutenant General Chaudhry condemned India for its continued ceasefire violations and attempts to conduct false flag operations. He reassured that Pakistan’s armed forces are fully prepared to respond to any aggression in an appropriate manner.

Furthermore, he expressed strong support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who continue to face oppression under Indian rule. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to offering political, legal, diplomatic, and moral support to Kashmiris in their struggle for independence. In addition, he accused India of engaging in state-sponsored terrorism globally, including the targeting of Sikh communities abroad.
